Geometry and Form: Architectural Design Elements & Principles
Through this project I expanded my understanding of design process through elements and principals. Referring to Frank Ching book; Architecture, Form, Space, and Order I developed a foundation in utilizing elements such as, points, lines, shapes, forms, and space to present my design intent using principles such as symmetry, rhythm, hierarchy, repetition, and movement. To demonstrate this, I created three tattoo stamps using shapes with datum, lines with repetition, and space with rhythm. Afterwards, the challenge was to transform and express my three tattoo stamps in a three dimensional shape.

Structure and Body:
Materials, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration
Project 2 required the exploration and study of Bamboo as a structural material and learning about joinery, its properties, and life cycle. It also required the exploration of human anthropometry and ergonomics after choosing a specific action to associate with the structure. Supplemented by the technical and and construction workshop by Taylor's M.reka Makerspace, we were to construct our bamboo structures ourselves. In a group setting, we carried what we learned from our first project to form our design using design elements and principles. Our exploration led us to our final design; RECLUSE, showcased in the slides below.

Space and Sensory:
Self-Exploration through Spaces
Project 3 was a culmination of what I had learned up to this point; utilizing design elements and principles as a part of my design process and exploration of material, anthropometry, and ergonomics. Further than that, I had to develop a sensory self space with user response in mind in relation to myself and my experience as a first year student by identifying an emotion or theme and stitching an experiential narrative that highlights the relationship my choice of design elements, principles, materials, and user action have in creating my design and delivering on my design intention.
